Kindergarten track day part 1

I have waaay too many cute pictures from kindergarten track day to condense into one post, so I'm just warning you know, there is more to come!! We had a great time - there are much more fun events at kindergarten track day than at regular track day. Where else is the shoe kick or the egg and spoon race a valid event?! Plus it was very laid back and just fun - they even let Cameron compete in all the races but one. And Reese even had a try at the hurdles!

We try to go down to visit my grandparents (KK and Pawpaw) at least a few times a month. The kids always run around and have fun, and my grandparents talk about their antics for weeks to come. Pawpaw usually has some sort of gardening project the kids get to "help" him with. And KK prepares in advance by stocking up on their favorite snacks and lunch food. We love you KK and Pawpaw!

A Barnyard "Moo"sical

This post is about Trister's first school play. The Kindergarten musical this year was "A Barnyard Moosical", as mentioned above. I think he makes a very cute pig, don't you. By the way, he is a black pig because his Dad was worried about him having to wear pink, which got Trister worrying about the same thing. So, we researched pigs on the internet and found that there are many different colors of pigs, so why shouldn't he be a more manly color? Tris chose black, so there you have it! He was very cute as he recited his part and did all the dance movements with the songs.

We tried our hands at hosting our first holiday this Easter! Yay! We're officially grown-ups! We hosted Easter for Tristan's side of the family, and it went pretty well, I didn't forget to turn on the oven or anything! Actually, my oven is so old, we don't have a delayed cook setting, and we needed the ham to cook while we were at church, so I borrowed my lovely friend, Lucinda's oven! (Thanks Lucinda!)

I feel like I'm not able to show very well in this blog how we are trying to teach our children the true mening of special holidays like Easter and Christmas - because I mostly blog about whatever pictures I post. And those pictures always are the "fun" stuff. I don't normally take pictures of family home evening lessons where we talk about how Jesus died for us and atoned for our sins. But I just wanted to mention here that we have those important talks with our kids as well as the fun traditions. It makes me feel really good that they can answer correctly when we ask them what the true meaning of these holidays are, because the Savior's birth, life, and atoning sacrifice for us will mean more to them in life than any amount of presents or candy ever will.

Our kids love to color Easter Eggs. We do it every year. Cameron picked out the egg-dye kit this year. It was one of the messiest (of course) we've done so far! After all the eggs were dyed and dried, you then had to squirt this special, very sticky glue on your egg, and rub it all over with your fingers. Then you wrap it in this colored metallic paper and when you peel it off, the eggs (and kids) had metallic speckles all over them. They turned out really pretty, but I think I'll just pick out the kit we use for next year myself! (Reese, by the way, was taking a nap during this process - Maybe I'll be brave enough to dye eggs with all 4 of them next year!)

CRAZY HAIR DAY!!

Here are the kids getting ready for crazy hair day at school. (Cameron just had crazy hair at home with me and at the grocery store!) In case you can't tell from the picture, both boys hair are gelled all spiky, and Becca has half striaght, half curly hair!
